FAQ
Driveway Questions
How long does a concrete driveway last?
A properly installed and maintained concrete driveway typically lasts 30 years or more. In the Kalamazoo area, regular sealing every 2 to 3 years and avoiding deicing chemicals during the first winter help maximize the lifespan of your driveway.
How thick should a concrete driveway be?
We recommend a minimum of 4 inches for standard residential driveways. For areas that will support heavier vehicles or RVs, we pour 5 to 6 inches with additional reinforcement. A proper compacted gravel base of 4 to 6 inches beneath the concrete is equally important for long-term performance.
When can I drive on my new concrete driveway?
We recommend waiting at least 7 days before driving passenger vehicles on new concrete and 10 to 14 days for heavier vehicles. The concrete continues to cure and gain strength for up to 28 days, so being patient during this period helps ensure the best long-term results.
